Denise's baby shower

This has been such a great year already! Mostly because of all the wonderful people I've been meeting (and the all the wonderful people already in my life).
On Saturday, Curtis and I had brunch at Andrea and Greg's. I met them at an AzPPA meeting and found out Andrea is from Brazil! We had a really good time with them and I'm sure her boys and my nephew are going to have a blast together.
Sunday morning Curt and I went to Portico for the second time. We like it there soo much. And everyone is just sooo nice! After church we were invited to join them for lunch at Serranos and it was really fun to get to know them a little better. I even met someone who speaks Portuguese!
Later in the afternoon I had a baby shower for Denise at my house, almost all the dietitians and diet techs came and we had such a nice time. I am very blessed to be able to work with such a wonderful group of people. Now, you are really going to be jealous when you see all the food we had. And yes, it tasted just as delicious as it looks :)

Karri's birthday

A few weeks before the New Year I received a phone call from a sweet girl named Jamie. It turns out she is one of my friend's best friend and was planning a surprise birthday party for her. She asked me if I wanted to be a part of it and of course I would never miss a party, especially not a surprise birthday party :)
The birthday girl is Karri. We met at the hospital, she is a CVICU nurse and it is always a treat to see her on a long day at work. She has one of the best smiles ever and such a beautiful personality.
Her best friend Jaime is equally amazing! You should have seen all the work she put in planning this party. We all met at the Cheesecake Factory (where Jamie had the waiter hang up some birthday decorations for us) and then came over to my house afterwards for toasts, cake and games. Earlier in the day Jamie came by my house to bring the cake and decorations. Everything was just so cute. She even had some fun goodie bags for us. And here is the best part: Jamie works at Philosophy and she developed my favorite shower gel ever - Baby Grace! So guess what was in my goodie bag?!! Happy birthday to me! Thanks Jamie! I love it! I'm such a dork I actually asked her to "autograph" my bottle of Baby Grace. If you've never tried this stuff, you have to! It has the best, softest scent that stays with you all day, makes your skin super soft and it works great as a make up remover too.
Oh, yes, the party... I almost forgot to talk about the cake. Soooo Yummy! It was the marble cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes and let's just say I'm most definitely ordering one for my birthday. Happy Birthday, Karri! I hope you had fun! And Jaime, it was soo nice to meet you, you are amazing and I hope to see you again soon.

The super awesome goodie bags
I think Karri had fun :)
The oh-so-yummy cake!
Karri and her gorgeous sister Patricia.

Kristine & Brian

Kristine and Brian met at the gym. He used to refer to her as "the eliptical girl". When they asked me to take their engagement photos, I made sure to put their physical fitness to the test! We walked all over downtown Gilbert and had a blast. I think Brian was a little concerned about missing Sunday football but he stayed and smiled. Ahh, the things love makes you do :)

Flagstaff

For my Christmas gift Curtis planned a weekend in Flagstaff filled with romantic dinners, a room with a fire place and... ski lessons! If you know me well you know that I'm always cold and that I'm the biggest chicken in the world. So, this might come as a shock to many, but I actually had a lot of fun and did suprisingly well skiing. I managed to stay fairly warm (thanks to Kelly Owen who let me borrow all of her ski clothes) and I only fell once. Actually, I desperately threw myself on the ground when I saw a bunch of people in front of me and didn't quite know what to do. Speaking of not knowing what to do... Does anyone know what the ski poles are for? As far as I'm concerned their only purpose was to make it even more difficult to carry the skis around - while wearing those huge ski boots. By the way, they should really invest in some elevators at ski resorts. It is not easy to go up and down stairs while wearing ski boots. No wonder snowboarding has become so popular! Just a couple more things I learned this weekend: Getting back up is a lot harder than staying up; only ride the chair lift with people you really trust! There's really nothing holding you up there; and last but not least: Screaming does not help you stop. Trust me, I tried.

The trip started off really well with a pit-stop at Sonic. Did we get enough food?

The next morning we woke up to a beautiful snowy day and headed over to Snowbowl

We put so much sunscreen on we look like wax statues:

My awesome friend Kelly Dahl was there too and it was fun getting to see her for a little bit:Just take a look at my athletic stance :)

I got better as the day went on. Looking a little less retarded here:

After a long day at the mountain, a quick stop at Starbucks. Unfortunately the hot drinks didn't quite help me regain feeling in my toes.

The next day we thought it would be a great idea to drive over to downtown Flagstaff so we could walk around and explore a little. Well, we had really good intentions but we made it one block and ran back to the car. It was REALLY cold!

The trip was really fun and I definitely want to go back to Flagstaff when it's not so cold so I can see a little more of the city. Thank you, Curt, for my wonderful Christmas gift.

New Year's Eve

This year Curtis's friends Shannon and Val gave us all tickets to the Insight Bowl and the Tempe Block Party. We had a lot fun! It just so happened that we wore red which happened to be the colors of the Indiana team and that's where we were sitting. Lucky!

I have to say the highlight of my day was meeting Jared! No, not the Jared from the jewelry store! The Subway Jared! Every dietitian's dream celebrity :)

We saw the BareNaked Ladies for a while and then headed over to my parent's so we could all do the countdown together.
